Artist of Steel: Our oldest and most time honored competitive event, the Artist of Steel takes volunteers from the convention and pits them against each other in a crazy, ill-conceived contest that shows that patience is sometimes more important than artistic talent. Each artist is forced to slog through rapidly changing different art mediums and supplies while being berated, mocked, and even sang at by our resident Drill Sergents, all in front of a live audience who will judge their work at the end! Kei-kons Cosplay Contest: The practice of dressing up like your favorite character has been in practice since long before television ever was created. Trekkies do it, S.C.A members do it, and so do anime fans. We just do it a bit better. We at Kei-kon are nuts about cosplay. Most of our staff has wasted hundreds (thousands?) of hours/dollars on the art and regret only that one tragic instance with the sailor fukus from Kei-kon 2. In order to encouage Cosplay Kei-kon 5 will be hosting its yearly Cosplay Competition, loaded with fun and prizes for all cosplayers! Anime Music Video Contest: The only thing we like more than Cosplay is our AMV contest. With the exception of myself and sarcasm, the AMV contest is the longest running tradition at Kei-kon, and one of the oldest in the Anime Convention world! For those not in the know, an Anime Music video is a series of clips from anime set artistically to music just like a normal music video you'd see on TV. Each year we hold a contest to determine this year's best AMV's. Come and join what's become one of our most popular events!* Kei-kon's Second Annual Solid Snake Off: Last year's sleeper hit returns with new hazzards, new tricks, and maybe even some new bosses. The Solid Snake Relay Race will be something to experience. Can you say... crab battle? *please note that the AMV contest may contain spoilers, adult or violent themes, some minor language, and lots of flashing lights which may not be good for those who suffer from seizures. We screen our videos for offensive material and try to make sure all of our entries are PG-13 in content, but once in a while our definition of non-offensive may differ from yours.
